Description:
This course explores human rights in East Asia within the context of historical legacies, cultural traditions, political systems, and economic transformation. Applying human rights theories as well as human security and environmental security schools of thought in international relations theory, the course compares East/Southeast Asian experiences with universal human rights as conceptualized and espoused in Western countries.
