CAS - Ashe Panel - HBCU to PWI: Finding Your Safe Space

Tuesday, April 6, 2021
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time
Location: Online

Description:
Ashe or Ase (noun; AH-SHAY): a West African philosophical concept of one's ability to make and influence change.

Current graduate students will discuss the shifting cultural dynamics that come into play when students of color attend a Historically Black College/University (HBCU) for undergraduate studies and transitions into a Predominately White Institution (PWI) for graduate studies. An emphasis will be placed on the examination of campus culture and student interactions, while considering the positive benefits and unique challenges that both types of institutions present.

The panel will be moderated by current MA Arts Management student and Graduate Ambassador, Austin Farrow. A Q&A will follow.

The Ashe Panels are a part of the Office of Graduate Enrollment Management webinar series. This is an opportunity to connect with AU faculty and staff while learning more about the AU community and resources.

Registrants will receive access instructions the morning of the event.
Registration period closes Tuesday, April 6, 2021
