Tuesday, December 5, 2023
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time
Location: Online

Description:

SIS Virtual Class Visits offer prospective students an opportunity to experience a simulated SIS graduate class featuring a substantive course lecture and follow-up discussion.

This lecture and discussion is from the "Transnational Education" course in SIS, which focuses on the roles of education in intercultural relations, foreign policy, public diplomacy, and peacebuilding. We will discuss the U.S.-funded Nigerian version of Sesame Street, called Sesame Square, which seeks to build intergroup tolerance amidst escalating ethno-religious conflict. Dr. Naomi Moland will present from her book on this topic and connect her findings to broader questions about the capacities of soft power educational initiatives to build peace.

Registration period closes Tuesday, December 5, 2023
