Description:
Join us as a 'student for the day' to participate in an engaging faculty-led discussion focused on the current movie theater industry and how superhero blockbusters, sequels, non-sequels, and original films have a chance to succeed with audiences this summer movie season. As surviving theaters have been forced to innovate, Hollywood production has mostly returned to normal with studios offering more content in the wake of the pandemic. But with content rising and the recent success of non-superhero blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way of Water, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie (alongside disappointing box office returns for recent Marvel and DC franchise offerings), what does the upcoming movie theater landscape look like for summer 2023 and beyond?
Producing Film, Television & Video M.A. Professor Randall Blair will answer this question and many more while providing information on the part-time film graduate program that offers weekend classes to students.
